Before you can run, first you must walk

I had JoLynne and the kids take videos and pictures along the way partly so that when I get discouraged I can look back and see how much progress I have made. The first video was taken on Wednesday, 2 days after surgery. I think it should count as my 12th marathon. The second was taken 7 days after surgery or today. God continues to be good to us.

  2. Excellant progress!! Were proud of you! I was thinking about you coming home today, you've probably already thought of this, but it would probably be a good idea to call the airlines and request a wheel chair to take you through security and to your gate! Its a lot faster getting through security that way, and will sure save your strength! Love you guys. P and R

  4. You are absolutely amazing! Thank you for being such a strong example for the rest of us to follow. Miracles happen because of "exceeding faith." Thanks for the passage from the Bible Dictionary on prayer. Please read the entry on Miracles along with Ether 12:12 and Mormon 9:10-20. I especially love verse 20. You are teaching us to know the God in whom we should trust! Thank you!

  11. So good to see you at the temple...and what a surprise. I guess we were both where we were supposed to be. I hope your memories of Minnesota will be good ones. Best wishes on your continued recovery and you will be in my prayers.

  12. Dr. Vogel, you are amazing. We check your blog often and keep you in our prayers continuously. We went to your office on Monday for a cleaning. It was not the same without you, but your staff (your friends) had things running like a smooth sailing ship and we were well cared for. Your new office is beautiful and the sweet pictures on the walls brought tears to my eyes. Loved it!

I was telling Ashlee what a shame it was you had to go through this to teach so many of us deeper faith and gratitude. Your journey has been such an inspiration to all of us. I know Heavenly Father knew you were up for the challenge and would not only succeed, but succeed gloriously! Thank you for letting us learn from you. I come away from your blog wanting to be and do better- every time.

Most dentists teach their patients about the importance of proper oral hygiene- but we always knew you weren't like most dentists.

Much love to you and your family,

    Erin and Patrick
